If it had been me i would have given the old guy his last wish. He'll spend his last moments saying, if only....

I have just read all the blogs, Laurie, and love every one! The Antarctic cruise one puzzled me in that I wondered how a cruise line connected you and your style of travel writing to their ship full of hmmm - not so bright, not so adventurous types. The whole blog was fascinating to read, as I would love to visit Antarctica and the other places on route as well, though I am also not enamoured of the idea of cruises. And I am sure I would not have your will power when it comes to the buffet - or, exercise. I loved the last anecdote, when you found a connection to the viagra man who was so jolly and unashamed that he was buying viagra. It seemed so like what I have come to know of you from your books.

Thanks Christine for all your kind words and also advice on Quinn! I'm thinking about that a lot these days since Quinn is in grade 4 and already not wanting to take off anywhere for too long or even move to, I don't know, New Zealand. I can't imagine why not. Where do you live?

I live in Wakefield down the hill from you - we met at the library last weekend! I have since read - I should say devoured - the two books I found, and thoroughly loved them. (Much more that Eat, Pray, Love!) They filled me full of yearning for a long gone and far less adventurous youth.

Laurie - Oh you made me laugh. Although, how terrifying to encounter so many zombies in one place! At least the view was spectacular.

OK, now I think I'd like to take a cruise. If someone adventurous like you found it fun, I can too!

As ever, love your writing, Laurie, so funny and entertaining! (We met in university but you might not remember me, sat next to each other in some history classes). Anyway keep writing!

I wouldn't bee so quick to laugh about all cruise people. I understand what you mean but my husband and I regularly cruise and we don't fit this image (although meet a lot of them!)
